Title OK, Register and up on the lift Friday

Well, it took a while but now I have the title for Tzap.  Friday I’m going to get it up on the lift and get some pictures and a good idea of what needs to happen under there.  I’m not sure when I’ll be able to work on it though, as my wife needs to cut back on summer salary which correspondingly cuts my budget.  We’ll see.

Tzap is in MD now

Weather caused many delays, but she has finally found her way to MD now.  The next step is to take care of some basic issues like brakes and getting the engine running.  I’m getting help from my mechanic on the brakes and giving Tzap a once-over to see what needs to be done.  Got some good tips on how to weld so once I get to that point I have more to go on.  Below are some more pictures.  I haven’t had her up on the lift to get a look at what needs to happen underneath.  Hopefully I’ll get a chance to do that shortly.

Delays, argh!

Well, weather has kept Tzap from coming from Niagara NY to Maryland where she belongs.  I have received the cover from Morris Mania in CA so am ready to get her mostly protected.  Hopefully next week she’ll make it down and I’ll have more pictures.

Opener – found the car

I found this 1951 Morris Minor 2 door coupe for sale in NY state, USA.  Tzap, as she will be called, has some interesting things about her.  The engine has clearly been modified, with twin SU carbs and a bunch of parts that are loose indicating a rebuild.  The seller doesn’t know the history as he got the car in trade.  I am planning to ask him if the original owner would mind telling me more about her.

TZAP needs brakework and some undercarriage work as well.  My current plan (subject to change) is to get Smauggy, my 1959 Morris Minor convertible, all tidied up and ready to sell by the end of summer 2018.  Then I can begin work on Tzap in earnest.  On the way, it’ll be interesting to see just what the heck is going on under the hood there.
